Binghamton women's tennis defeats No. 3 UMBC in America East semifinals
Bearcats return for title rematch with 14-time champion Boston University

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Second-seeded Binghamton women's tennis (16-5) earned a second straight trip to the America East title match with a resounding 4-0 win over No. 3 UMBC in the championship semifinals Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats will face top-seeded and 10-time defending conference champion Boston University in Sunday's 2 p.m. match. The Terriers eliminated No. 3 Stony Brook 5-0 in the other semifinal.

Sophomore No. 1 Zeynep Altinay (Antalya, Turkey), the America East Player of the Year, rolled to a straight-set win, lifting her season record to 29-4 with her 15th straight victory.

The Bearcats and Terriers will meet in the championship match for the second straight year. Last spring, Boston University posted a 4-2 victory to claim its 14 conference title.

The winner of the America East Women’s Tennis Championship receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
