Binghamton women's tennis competes at Cornell Winter Invitational

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Freshmen Anna Edelman (Great Neck, N.Y.) and Lauren Bates (Buffalo, N.Y.) advanced to the A Double semifinals, highlighting Binghamton's performance in the opening day of the Cornell Winter Invitational. After earning a first-round bye, the tandem defeated Carlin Calcaterra and Paulina Gamboa of Bucknell 8-3 in the second round.

In the B Doulbes bracket, senior Gayathri Balasundar (Syosset, N.Y.) and sophomore Danyelle Shapiro (Boca Raton, Fla.) had a first round bye, but lost to Sarah Giller and Paige Ford of Army 8-2 in the second round. They bounced back, however, to win the their consolation first round match against and Kirstyn Sotak and Renee Weissend of Bucknell 9-8 (7-4).
