Binghamton women's tennis sweeps Fairleigh Dickinson 7-0

VESTAL, N.Y..-- Binghamton (14-3) swept Fairleigh Dickinson (4-15) in a non-conference women's tennis match at the West Gym Courts on Monday afternoon. The win was the 10th triumph in the last 11 matches for the Bearcats.

Sophomore Lauren Bates and freshman Jillian Santos defeated Julia Prantl and Ksenia Chernyshova 8-3 at first doubles. Bates went on to defeat Julija Korshunova 6-4, 7-5 at first singles while Santos downed Prantl 6-3, 6-3 at second singles.

Also winning both her matches was sophomore Yulia Smirnova, who beat Ksenia Chernyshova 6-1, 6-2 at third singles. At second doubles, she joined freshman Emma Leibowicz to record an 8-1 win over Korshunova and Jessica DeCarlos.

Binghamton won all five singles matches and two doubles matches.

The Bearcats host Colgate on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
