WEST HARTFORD, Conn.--Binghamton (9-7) extended the longest winning streak in head coach Jamie Campbell's tenure with the school, defeating the University of Hartford (3-10) 7-0. It was the first match of the season against America East competition for the Bearcats.
Binghamton swept all six singles matches and all three doubles matches en route to the victory. At #1 singles, freshman Justina Hakimi (Manhasset, N.Y./Herricks) extended her winning streak to six matches with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. She also teamed with sophomore Alexis Brill (Syosset, N.Y.) for an 8-3 victory at the top doubles draw. Brill played at fourth singles and produced a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Junior Janine Sadaka (Great Neck, N.Y.) and senior Amy Weissberg (Syosset, N.Y.) were winners at second and third singles, respectively, while the pair teamed for an 8-2 victory at second doubles. Sadaka extended to a pro-set tiebreaker in her singles matches, winning 6-3, 4-6 (10-5). Weissberg won her singles match 6-2, 6-2.
Senior Kristin Jobe (Baytown, Texas/Texas City) was a 6-2, 6-2 winner at fifth singles and sophomore Amy Linda (Bronx, N.Y./LaGuardia) won 6-0, 6-2 at the sixth spot. The pair won 8-4 at third doubles.
Binghamton continues its Connecticut swing on Saturday with a 10 a.m. match against Quinnipiac.
