Women's tennis team sweeps James Madison and Cleveland State

The Binghamton women's tennis team started off its spring trip to Florida with a pair of wins on Tuesday, edging James Madison 4-3 and shutting out Cleveland State 7-0.

Against the Dukes, the Bearcats lost the doubles point but took four out of six singles flights to win the match. Freshman Justina Hakimi (Manhasset, N.Y./ Herricks), won at first singles 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 and junior Janine Sadaka (Great Neck, N.Y./ Great Neck) won at second singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-1. Also winning against James Madison were sophomore Alexis Brill (Syosset, N.Y. Syosset) at fourth singles, 6-1, 6-5, as well as senior Kristin Jobe (Baytown, Texas/ Texas City) at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-0.

Against the Vikings, the Bearcats swept all six singles matches as well as all three doubles matches. Hakimi won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Sadaka won 6-1, 6-2 at second singles, Brill took fourth singles 6-0, 6-1 and Jobe won at fifth singles 6-1, 6-0. Also winning for Binghamton were senior Amy Weissberg (Syosset, N.Y./ Syosset) at third singles, 6-0, 6-0, and sophomore Amy Linda (Bronx, N.Y./ LaGuardia) at sixth singles, 6-0, 6-0.

Binghamton is now 5-7 on the season.
