VESTAL, N.Y.-- For the second consecutive year, the Binghamton women's tennis program has been ranked among the top-25 mid-major programs in terms of its recruiting class by TennisRecruiting.net. The Bearcats trio of incoming freshmen were ranked No. 18 as a group. The mid-major rankings include all colleges in all divisions except for those in the "major conferences". The major conferences for tennis include schools affiliated with Bowl Championship Series conferences - the ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 10, and SEC - as well as the Ivy League.

Highlighting this year's incoming freshman class is Jillian Santos, a high school senior at Cardozo (N.Y.) High School. She has been ranked as high as No. 88 in the country and ninth in New York State this year among high school seniors by tennisrecruiting.net. Santos has also been ranked 18th in the Eastern Section by the USTA. Her older sister Lilian played for the Bearcats during the 2004-05 season.

Also joining the Bearcats in the fall will be Emma Leibowitz and Kamila Sharin.

Last year's freshman class of Anna Edelman, Lauren Bates and Yulia Smirnova played an instrumental role in the Bearcats runner-up performance at the America East Conference Championships. In addition, Edelman and Bates were ranked No. 15 in doubles play in the ITA East Region.

"We are extremely please to have another ranked recruiting class," head coach Mike Stevens said. "These three players will add to our young and talented squad for this coming season."
