women's tennis defeats Siena 7-0 Freshman Anna Edelman (Great Neck, N.Y.) improved her record to 8-1 in singles play with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-5 win over Sarah Moyer at the No. 1 slot. She joined fellow freshman Lauren Bates (Buffalo, N.Y.) at first doubles for a 8-1 win over Mayer and Lauren Moy. Bates is now a perfect 10-0 in singles action, having defeated Moy 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 position. Freshman Yulia Smirnova (Moscow, Russia) and sophomore Danyelle Shapiro (Boca Raton, Fla.) won 8-0 at second doubles over Jessica Asselin and Lauren Garbade. Smirnova also defeated Asselin 6-4, 6-2 at third singles while Shapiro beat Garbade 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles. Junior Alex Sinclair (Manhasset, N.Y.) won 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles over Dinka Keric while senior Gayathri Balasundar (Syosset, N.Y.) beat Bridget Finnerty 6-0, 6-2 at sixth singles. Sinclair and Balasundar also defeated Keric and Finnerty 8-2 at third doubles. Up next for Binghamton is the ITA East Regional in Norfolk, Va. on Oct. 19-22.
