Binghamton women's tennis rallies for 4-3 win at Stony Brook


STONY BROOK, N.Y.--Freshman Jillian Santos and sophomore Lauren Bates each won their singles and doubles matches, leading Binghamton (10-2, 2-0 AE) to a 4-3 win over Stony Brook (6-2, 1-1 AE) in an America East women's tennis match on Saturday afternoon. The Bearcats lost the doubles point but bounced back to take four of the six singles matches to record their fifth consecutive victory.

Santos and Bates defeated Prerana Appineni and Anna Pieschl 8-4 at first doubles. Bates went on to beat Katherine Hanson 6-1, 7-5 (6) at first singles while Santos downed Paola Rodolfi 6-1, 6-1 at second singles.

Freshman Yagmur Gone defeated Salome Mkervalidze 6-2, 7-6 (5) at fifth singles. The clinching victory, however, was turned in by Marina Bykovskaya, who beat Gayatri Krishman 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 at fourth singles.

Binghamton returns home to face Villanova on Sunday at 2 p.m.
