Binghamton women's tennis defeats Stony Brook 5-2

VESTAL, N.Y.-- Host Binghamton (14-2, 3-0 AE) swept all three doubles matches and captured four of the six singles contests to record a 5-2 win over Stony Brook (16-4, 1-1 AE) in its regular-season finale at the West Gym Courts. The Bearcats have now won 19 straight regular season matches against conference opponents, dating back to the start of the 2004-05 campaign.

Junior Lauren Bates beat Nini Lagvilava 6-3, 6-2 at first singles. She also joined sophomore Emma Leibowicz for an 8-1 win at second doubles over Anna Piescl and Fanny Charliquart. At sixth singles, Leibowicz defeated Gayatri Krishnan 6-1, 6-0.

At third doubles, sophomore Jillian Santos and junior Yulia Smirnova won 8-5 over Katherine Hanson and Salome Mkervalidze. Santos later defeated Prerana Appineni 6-0, 6-4 at third singles while Smirnova downed Paola Rodolfi 6-0, 6-0 at fourth singles.

Junior Anna Edelman and sophomore Marina Bykovskaya beat Appineni and Rodolfi 8-4 at first doubles.

Binghamton heads to the America East Tournament next weekend at Yale University. The pairings will be announced later in the week.
