women's tennis loses 4-3 at Syracuse
SYRACUSE, N.Y.--The Binghamton
women's tennis team (7-2) just missed pulling off a major victory,
losing 4-3 to Syracuse (13-2) on Friday evening. The two teams
split the six singles matches but the Orange took two of the
three doubles matches.
Junior Anna
Edelman, who is ranked nationally by the ITA in both singles
and doubles play, was the lone Bearcat to sweep both her matches.
At second singles, she beat Eleanor Peters 6-2, 6-3 and at first
doubles, she joined sophomore Marina
Bykovskaya to defeat Emily Harman and Christina Tan 8-4.
Edelman is currently ranked No. 117 by the ITA in singles play.
She and Bkykovskaya are No. 59 in the doubles rankings.
Junior Lauren
Bates improved to 66-25 all time in singles matches with
a 6-3, 6-2 win over Harman at the No. 1 slot. She remains in
eighth place all time in school history in terms of career victories.
