Immediate Release: March 23, 2005 Contact: David O'Brian (dobrian@binghamton.edu) Phone: 607-777-6478 Binghamton women's tennis sweeps Towson 7-0 HILTON HEAD, S.C.-The Binghamton women's tennis team (7-5) won its second of three matches on its spring road trip on Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Towson (2-4) 7-0. Binghamton won all six singles matches and three doubles matches. With her 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles over Eva Otanke, sophomore Zeynep Altinay (Antayla, Turkey) raised her singles record to 22-4 for the season. She has now won 13 of her last 14 matches, all at No. 1 singles. In addition, fellow sophomore Jelena Koprivica (Belgrade, Serbia) improved to 18-5 for the season with her 6-2, 6-0 triumph over Kelly Parsons at No. 2 singles. "Things are going good this week," head coach Mike Stevens. "Zeynep continues to roll and Jelena is playing really well right now. Our doubles teams have been improving so it was good to get the doubles point today. The Bearcats close out the spring trip on Thursday with an 2 p.m. match against Towson.
