Binghamton women's tennis beats UNC-Wilmington 4-3

RICHMOND, Va.-- Junior Anna Edelman and sophomores Marina Bykovskaya and Jilian Santos all won their singles and doubles matches, leading Binghamton (10-2) to a 4-3 win over host UNC-Wilmington (13-6) in a women's tennis match on Thursday afternoon. The victory was the second straight triumph for the Bearcats on the road against a team from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Edelman and Bykovskaya defeated Kayla Schwenk and Christina Reily 8-4 at first doubles. Edelman went on to defeat Schwenk 6-0, 6-2 at second singles while Bykovskaya was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Casey Dashell at sixth singles.

Santos, meanwhile, knocked off Reily 7-5, 6-3 at third singles. At third doubles, Santos and junior Yulia Smirnova beat Chelsea Kahle and Hartley Collins 8-6.

"We played well against two solid teams this week," head coach Mike Stevens said. "It's nice that we were able to battle through in such close matches."

Binghamton hosts UMBC on Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m.
