Tennis teams sweep Vermont on Senior Day

Both the men's and women's tennis teams posted 7-0 wins over conference foe Vermont on Sunday morning as part on Senior Day here at Binghamton.

For the women's team (13-7), it marked the 10th consecutive, which extends the school record. The men's team (15-6) won for the seventh time in the past eight matches. The women have one more home match remaining before the America East Conference Championships in two weeks while the match on Sunday concluded the men's regular season.

Seniors Amy Weissberg (Syosset, N.Y.) and Kristin Jobe (Baytown, Texas/ Texas City) each made the most of their day after being honored at a pre-match ceremony. Weissberg and junior Janine Sadaka (Great Neck, N.Y.) teamed up at second doubles to win 8-0. She then went on to win at third singles 6-0, 6-1. Jobe won her ninth consecutive match at fifth singles (6-3, 6-0) and then teamed up with sophomore Amy Linda (Bronx, N.Y./ LaGuardia) to win at third singles, 8-1. The Bearcats would win all three doubles and six singles matches.

On the men's side, Sunday marked the final home match for seniors Brad Davidoff (Roslyn, N.Y./ East Hills), Ryan Rosenthal (Laverock, Pa./ Cheltenham) and Brad Sherwood (Bronx, N.Y./ The Dwight School). Davidoff won at second singles (6-3, 6-0) and teamed with junior Steve Spencer (Plantation, Fla./ Nova) to win at second doubles (8-6). Sherwood won at fourth singles (6-3, 6-4) and teamed with sophomore Akshay Rao (New Delhi, India) to win at first doubles, 8-0. Rao, who also won at first singles (6-1, 6-1), concluded the regular season with a sparkling record of 30-4.
