Track team inks shot putter from Connecticut

The Binghamton women's track team has received a national letter of intent from Marsha Locke (Danbury, Conn.) who is currently a senior at Danbury High School. She will join the Bearcats for her freshman season in 2004-05.

During the 2002-03 season, Locke was the Connecticut State Large School Champion in the shot put during the outdoor season. She also placed fourth among all schools in Connecticut in the same event. At the New England Outdoor Championships, Locke came in fourth in the shot put. Finally, at the Connecticut State Indoor Championships, she placed second in the shot put.

"Marsha is a well-rounded, athletic thrower who will make an immediate impact in the America East Conference," head coach Mike Thompson said. "She will focus on the shot put and hammer, but could contribute in the javelin and discus as well."
