Radzik and Kramer earn all-conference honors at America East Cross Country Championship
VESTAL, N.Y.-- Freshman Katie Radzik (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) placed third in the women's race and senior Stacy Kramer (Loudonville, N.Y.) was seventh, highlighting Binghamton's performance at the America East Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday morning. Teamwise, the Bearcats were fourth out of nine teams in the women's meet and eighth out of ninth in the men's meet. Binghamton was the host school for the first time since joining the America East in 2001.
Radzik's third-place effort is the best performance turned in by a Binghamton runner at the America East Conference meet. She covered the 5,000-meter course in a time of 18:38 and earned all-conference honors for placing in the top 10.
Kramer, meanwhile, earned all-conference honors for the second year in a row with a time of 18:51. She was 10th at the 2004 meet. Junior Mary Tursi (Staten Island, N.Y.) was 23rd (19:45), senior Erica Angell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) was 32nd (20:16) and freshman Elizabeth Sweeney (West Henrietta, N.Y.) was 43rd (20:50).
Leonora Joy was first out of the 73 runners in the women's race with a time of 18:04. Boston won the team title.
On the men's side, freshman Ryan Shon (Miller Place, N.Y.) was the Bearcats' top finisher, placing 37th with a time of 27:36 for the 8,000-meter course. Junior Jeff Herbert (Somerville, N.J.) was right behind him, finishing 38th (27:37).
Kirby Davis won the 79-runner race with a time of 25:38. UMBC won the team title.
Binghamton heads to the Northeast Regional at Franklin Park on Nov. 12 at 10 a.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Prior to Radzik's performance, Angell's eighth-place finish in last year's meet was the best performance turned in by a Binghamton runner (male or female) at the America East Conference Championship.
